B company partners with A company to strengthen its position in fungicides

Agrochemical company B has entered a strategic partnership with A company to boost its position in the fungicide market in South America.

Their agreement grants B company a license for Solatenol (azoxystrobin + benzovindiflupyr in WG formulation), a proprietary fungicidal active ingredient owned by A company, considered one of the most effective molecules for disease control in major crops.

Under the agreement, B company will be responsible for commercializing Solatenol in Brazil and other markets under the brand name Desali, reinforcing its portfolio and addressing the growing demand for advanced fungicidal solutions in regional agriculture.

Solatenol (benzovindiflupyr) is a succinate dehydrogenase inhibitor (SDHI) fungicide that provides preventive and curative control of a wide spectrum of fungal diseases. It is known for its long residual activity, systemic protection, and role in resistance management strategies, and is already marketed worldwide by A company in leading fungicide formulations.

By licensing the technology to Tecnomyl, A company expands regional access to Solatenol, while leveraging B company’s established distribution networks in Brazil and neighboring countries.

Brazil represents one of the world’s largest fungicide markets, driven primarily by crops such as soybeans, corn, wheat, and coffee, all of which face significant pressure from fungal diseases. Disease control is a decisive factor in productivity — for soybeans alone, fungicides account for a considerable share of crop protection expenditures.

Against this backdrop, Desali’s launch positions B company to compete from a stronger position in segments where performance and grower confidence are critical.

Strategic alliances, such as the A-B agreement, reflect broader trends in the crop protection industry, where companies seek to balance innovation costs, regulatory requirements, and access to patented molecules. Licensing technologies helps regional players expand competitiveness, while ensuring innovation reaches a broader share of farmers.

With Desali, B company consolidates its strategy of reinforcing its fungicide portfolio, while diversifying crop protection solutions. For A company, licensing Solatenol extends market reach and strengthens its role in sustainability-driven innovation for South American agriculture.

This partnership is expected to increase grower access to reliable fungicide programs, enhance disease management in key crops, and contribute to productivity gains across one of the world’s largest agricultural regions.

Founded in Paraguay and active across South America,  B company is part of the Sarabia Group. Operating in Brazil for less than a decade, it has grown fivefold in size over the past four years. In 2024, it generated BRL 2.5 billion (USD 467.5 million) in revenue, a 51% increase.

In Brazil, B company has also licensed Thiamethoxam technology, an insecticide used against bedbugs. A company markets this active ingredient under the Engeo Pleno brand. B company sells it as Platinum Neo.
