GB maximum residue level (MRL) amendments: adopted May to June 2026

The GB MRL Statutory Register has recently been amended and new statutory levels have been set.

To meet the requirements of international trade, and to accommodate a new authorisation of a plant protection product in GB, new MRLs have been set in the GB MRL Statutory Register for the following active/commodity combinations. The date the new MRLs came into force is also detailed:

15 May 2026

• Imazalil/ bananas

• Mefentrifluconazole/ strawberries, tomatoes, aubergines/eggplants, cucumbers, gherkins, courgettes

15 June 2026

• Mefentrifluconazole/ pistachios, grapes, table olives, kaki/Japanese persimmon, lettuces, Roman rocket/rucola, baby leaf crops (including brassica species), spinaches, herbs and edible flowers, beans (without pods), cardoons, celeries, Florence fennels, globe artichokes, rhubarbs, olives for oil production

Future GB MRLs amendment (adopted): dithianon

Dithianon is an approved active substance in GB.

As notified in HSE previous ebulletin issued on 17 March 2026, HSE identified acute intake concerns for the current MRLs for dithianon in/on apples and pears.

In addition, HSE identified chronic intake concerns as a result of the current MRLs for citrus fruit, raspberries (red and yellow) and currants (red, black and white).

It was therefore proposed to lower the specific MRL for dithianon in/on:

• apples and pears from 3 mg/kg to the Codex MRL (CXL) of 1 mg/kg

• currants (red, black and white) from 3 mg/kg to the CXL of 2 mg/kg

• citrus fruits and raspberries (red and yellow) to the limit of quantification of 0.01* mg/kg

In addition, HSE proposed to adopt the CXLs for apricots and plums (0.2 mg/kg), wine grapes (5 mg/kg), and hops (300 mg/kg).

Following completion of the notification process to the World Trade Organization, the new MRLs detailed above were adopted on 15 June 2026.

To allow trading partners and food business operators time to adjust to the new lower MRLs, the date of entry into force of the new MRLs is 14 December 2026. The future MRLs can be reviewed in the decision documents on the HSE website.

The current MRLs in the GB MRL Statutory Register have an expiry date of 13 December 2026, and the new MRLs will appear in the register from 14 December 2026.
